Science Hill has reopened on Sunday mornings for worship at 11am. Due to the intimate nature of Sunday School we are holding off on large groups meeting together in small rooms. As we want to balance the vital aspect of the church coming back together for worship in person with the personal responsibility that each of us have to be safe and protect those we may come into contact with, we are going to present options. The first option is that the sanctuary is reopened with social distancing guidelines, and limited seating due to those guidelines. The second option is that we have a drive in style set up in the parking lot, for those who desire to get out of the house, but are still nervous about being inside a building . The third is that we will continue to stream on Facebook Live, so those who do not yet feel comfortable leaving the house or who are not able to leave the house, can still be a part of the Sunday Morning worship service.
We are very excited to reopen the doors, but this also means that we are extending trust to each and every one of you in several ways. First, we trust you to be honest about your condition and to not let your desire to see people outweigh your care to keep yourself and others safe. Second, we trust you to trust others to make that assessment honestly, as it can be too easy to unconsciously put pressure on those that you have missed to come to church before they are comfortable. Third we trust that you will understand that things are not 'going back to normal,' and may never really get there. This is a world changing event we have lived, and are continuing to live, through, and there is no telling what its impact will ultimately be. So we are trusting you to be patient and honest.
We are excited to see ya'll once again in person, and keep watching, because there are going to be more announcements about church activity coming soon.
In Christ's love,

Notes from Marcus
I want to remind everyone that the Church does not operate in fear, but in wisdom. I believe wisdom, in this case, is to wait, see, and be prepared to care for each other in an intelligent way. In Matthew 10:16 Jesus told his disciples to "be wise as serpents and gentle as doves." This was during his commissioning of them to go out into the world. They were given explicit instructions on how to deal with all the situations there were going to find themselves in once they encountered the madness that was the world outside their metaphorical walls. Jesus told them He would be with them, but he also told them to keep their eyes open, and to be smart about their actions.
